Always thinking like a pirate.

I shared this snippet from Goddess of the Sea (Lesbians, Pirates, & Dragons: Book 2) for the #lesficfri theme, โtongue.โ
Iโve recently realized Iโve been forgetting to share these snippets here, after sharing them on social media each week. So, Iโm going to work on catching them up over the next few days. ๐
I hope youโre all doing well this week! ๐
Goddess of the Sea (Lesbians, Pirates, & Dragons: Book 2) is featured in this weekโs I Heart SapphFic Reading Challenge category, โForced Proximity.โ ๐
Because, as Judith says in Book 1, a pirate ship is โsmaller than any town, smaller than any island.โ
You can find more sapphic books with forced proximity on the I Heart SapphFic website!

Pirates of Aletharia is featured in this weekโs Sapphic Book Bingo category, โWho hurt you?โ ๐
I have a habit of writing sapphic characters who are really protective of each other, so some variation of this tends to show up in a lot of my books. (I can confirm itโs in Goddess of the Sea, as well! ๐)
You can find fifteen sapphic books with this micro-trope on Jaeโs website!

Itโs Banned Books Week, a week set aside each year to discuss the danger of banning books and the importance of the freedom to read. In a time when diversity and authenticity in literature is being attacked by those in power, itโs more important than ever to speak out against censorship.
Representation is important. It literally saves lives.
We will continue to write these books. We will continue to read these books. Diversity should be celebrated, not feared. Reading should be encouraged, not attacked.
Iโm happy to stand with GCLS and SASS in defense of our stories. ๐

I meant to share these earlier in the month, butโฆwellโฆitโs been a rough one.
For anyone participating in Sapphic September this year, if you need to know which categories my books fit, Iโve listed them below. ๐ค
๐ Disabled Sapphics (Definitely)
๐ดโโ ๏ธ Indie or Small Press Author (Definitely)
๐ 2025 Release (Possibly? If youโre reading the audiobook version of Goddess of the Sea. The ebook and print came out in 2024.)
๐ดโโ ๏ธ Choose Your Own Prompt
๐ New-to-You Author (Possibly)
๐ดโโ ๏ธ Book from Physical TBR (Possibly)

๐ค Indie or Small Press Author (Definitely)
๐ฉธ 40+ Main Character (I think? Kara is over fourteen hundred, after all.)
๐ค Choose Your Own Prompt
๐ฉธ New-to-You Author (Possibly)
๐ค Book from Physical TBR (Possibly)
๐ฉธ Disabled Sapphics (Yes)

I think thatโs all, but if I missed anything, feel free to let me know. ๐ค
Happy reading!
PTSD and psychically-linked dragons arenโt always the best combination. ๐

This snippet from Goddess of the Sea (Lesbians, Pirates, & Dragons: Book 2) was for the #lesficfri theme, โsleep.โ
Iโm still not at my best (and might still get sent to the hospital later), BUTโฆI managed to do our Friday snippet. Iโm taking that as a good sign. ๐ค
My second Goldie. How is this real? ๐ฅน

For anyone who mightโve missed it, last week, in Albany, New York, Goddess of the Sea won a Goldie Award in Fantasy! ๐
I guess it hasnโt fully sunk in yetโbecause it still feels so strange to say. ๐
For those of you who were watching the Awards, either in person or online, sorry again for bawling on stage, instead of giving a normal acceptance speech.
I donโt know if there are strong enough words to convey how much it means to me, butโฆI hoped I conveyed at least a fraction of it.
Iโm going to try to do a more official andโฆmaybe more eloquent post soon, but for now, Iโm just really grateful. ๐
Iโm also so happy I was able to meet some of you at GCLS! ๐
Iโm missing everyone so much this week.

Huge congratulations to the other winners, as well! ๐
Oh, and I believe you can still watch the Goldie Awards on YouTube, if you missed them. ๐
Are you going to GCLS this year? Hereโs where you can find me, if you are! ๐

I know things have beenโฆnot great lately. Please, take care of yourselves, and be safe. ๐ค
