Happy Bi Visibility Day to all of my bisexual friends and readers! 💖💜💙 You’re amazing and valid and valued, and I hope you all feel extra-valued today! 💖💜💙
And in honor of the day, here’s a pretty bi line from my bisexual, vampire protagonist, Rose Foster. 😅💜
I completely forgot to share our teaser on Thursday, so for the last teaser of Pride Month, here’s Kara being “very proud of herself” …instead of preparing for an apocalypse. 😂
Rose gave her a skeptical look. “You haven’t had time to warn them that they’re all going to die, but you’ve had time to tell them I’m your new girlfriend?”
Kara grinned, her light blue eyes sparkling. “I’m very proud of myself.”
Rose tilted her head, flashing a sassy smile at her. “Aren’t you always?”
“Uhh, hello?!” the vampire interrupted. “You said the world is ending?!”
“I know,” Kara sighed. “And I have no right to ask you to do it again.”
Rose turned toward Kara, studying her with a frown. “Ask me, anyway.”
Kara’s light blue gaze shifted up, meeting Rose’s. “What?”
Rose stepped closer. She reached up, brushing her fingertips over Kara’s face. She watched as Kara’s eyes closed, as she leaned forward. “Ask me, anyway,” Rose repeated. She tilted her face, her lips brushing Kara’s. “Because I’ll say yes.”
Her voice was barely a whisper, now. “I’ll always say yes.”
For the second Teaser Day of Pride Month, here’s Rose and Kara having a Totally Normal™️ bedtime dispute. 😅
“You’re not keeping a battle-axe in the bed that we share.”
Kara stepped closer, before taking another sip of her drink. “Why not?”
Rose lifted both eyebrows, unable to hide her smile. “Because it’s sharp!”
Kara leaned closer. “So are you,” she said, tapping Rose’s chest with the bottom of her glass. Her lips curved into a smile. “But I still keep you in my bed.”
Rose opened her mouth and closed it again, blushing at the implications. Finally, she managed, “Mental sharpness doesn’t hack people’s heads off, Kara.”
The Reign of Darkness, the fourth and final book of the Creatures of Darkness Series, will be released on March 3, 2020! 🧛♀️🌈 So…just a little over two weeks from now! 🖤
I’ve been reluctant to post a release date because, between life events and rewrites, it can get really unpredictable. This last year (or so) has been a tough one, and my writing time has been more limited than ever. And on top of that, each time I would get close to finishing, I would decide to rewrite it all over again. 😅
My anxiety is partly to blame for that. This is the final book of the series, after all. I want it to be perfect (or as perfect as possible, anyway). I’ve been dreaming up this book for so long (since I started the series), and I want it to be the satisfying, worthy conclusion that I’ve always hoped it would be. 🖤
Your support of this series—and of Rose and Kara—has meant the world to me, and I will never be able to thank you enough for it. 🖤 But I hope I can at least give you a satisfying conclusion to the series—and one that was worth the wait. 🖤
Two more weeks! 🖤
P.S. — I’m extremely sleep-deprived, so if this sounds a little sappy and rambly, that’s probably why. 😅
Happy (belated) Thanksgiving to my American readers, and Happy How-Is-It-December-Already to everyone else. 💙 Thanks to the holidays, kids’ birthdays, the flu, and then a bit of a depression spiral, I’m pretty behind on updates, but I’ll try to share one within the next few days. 💙 Until then…teaser! 💙
I hope you enjoy it! And have a wonderful week! 💙
Oh, you know, just your typical bedtime bickering…
Happy Halloween! 🎃 (And Teaser Day! 🖤) I’m still getting The Reign of Darkness ready for release, but here’s a blood-themed scene from the night Rose and Kara met. ❤️
Since it’s World Mental Health Day, I’m sharing this scene from The Assassins of Lightagain—as a reminder that mental illness doesn’t mean you’re less or weak or any other stigma people have attached to it. It’s okay to not be okay. 💙
If you follow me on social media, you probably know that I struggle a lot with mental illness, too. That’s why it’s so important to me to write characters like Rose, who have PTSD and depression—or other mental illnesses. I want you to know that, even if you feel alone in this, you’re not. 💙 And if you ever need internet hugs, I’m happy to send them. 💙 Love you guys. Take care of yourselves. 💙
Happy International Lesbian Day from your local, awkward, writing-obsessed lesbian! 😅 I hope you all had a good day! 🏳️🌈
And to celebrate, here’s the character aesthetic for our favorite lesbian, seductive, Viking-warrior-vampire: Kara! ❤️ (At least I hope she’s our favorite. That was awfully specific. 😂)
