Author Copies and Another Thank You

Release month for Goddess of the Sea (Lesbians, Pirates, & Dragons: Book 2) has ended, and in the midst of migraines, anxiety, and a kidโ€™s ear infection, I have thoroughly failed promote it. (Not that Iโ€™ve ever been good at promoting anything. ๐Ÿ˜…)

But my author copies came in, and I wanted to share them with you! ๐Ÿ’™

Itโ€™s always magical to see the words that occupied my heart and mind for so long printed on the pages of a bookโ€”to hold them and touch them. ๐Ÿ’™

It can be hard to focus on the magic, though, when Iโ€™m exhausted and my headโ€™s all full of fear and doubt. But actuallyโ€ฆthatโ€™s when itโ€™s most important. Right? ๐Ÿ’™

Also, my thank you post for Goddess of the Sea reminded me that itโ€™s been a while since I did one for Book 1, and since it recently passed 1,300 reviews & ratings on Amazon, it felt like a good time for a new one. ๐Ÿ’™

So, thank you for every review youโ€™ve left on Amazon, Audible, and everywhere else. Youโ€™re amazing, and Iโ€™m eternally grateful for you all. ๐Ÿ’™

P.S. – From the time I wrote this to the time I went to share it, the world already feels like a darker place. To all of you who are here in the U.S., I’m sending so much love today. I wish I had words, but all I can feel is fear right now. I hope you’re all rightโ€”as much as you can be, anyway. ๐Ÿ’™

P.S. – The paperback should also go live any time now, if it hasnโ€™t already. They donโ€™t give me a specific time for it. Itโ€™s just whenever they put it through. ๐Ÿ’™

Aletharian Appendices

Have I ever shown you my world-building notebooks? Some of them are pretty! (On the outside, where I havenโ€™t scribbled.)

If they seem excessive, keep in mind I started building Aletharia years before I started writing Book 1. (And okay, maybe Iโ€™m a bit obsessive about these things, too. ๐Ÿ˜…)

With the first book, I didnโ€™t think an appendix was necessary because Em was our only magic-wielder, and I figured it was self-explanatory that Em being a healer meant she wielded healing magic, not combat magic.

The second book, however, explores more of Emโ€™s side of Aletharia, which means it includes more magic-wielders and magical creatures. I still wrote it with the goal of you not needing an appendix, but during my final rewrite, I decided to add one, just in case.

So, I went to work at trying to reduce my many disorganized notebooks into a few short appendices. If youโ€™ve ever condensed a lot into a little, you know itโ€™s easier said than done. ๐Ÿ˜… In the end, Iโ€™d condensed them into four appendices, which I then added to the new book.

So, if you need the extra details (or if youโ€™re like me and just enjoy them), youโ€™ll be able to find them at the end of your book. ๐Ÿ’™

P.S. – The blue parchment notebook was my original visual inspiration for Mariaโ€™s captainโ€™s logโ€”though hers is brown andโ€ฆless pretty. ๐Ÿ˜‚

And for anyone who mightโ€™ve missed it, ebook and print editions of Goddess of the Sea will be available any time now at this link:

Sirens of Aletharia

I went ahead and added our sirens, Nerissa and Queen Amathea, to the Lesbian Pirates pageโ€”since you MAY be meeting them soon (no spoilers).

Keep in mind these are never totally accurate. There are limits to what I can customize. They arenโ€™t this thin, for one (but then, neither is Em). Aletharian sirens are naturally plus-sized, but youโ€™ll know that by the time you meet them.

As to whether or not youโ€™ll like them, itโ€™s hard to say. I enjoy Nerissa a bit, but Maria decidedly does not. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Sheโ€™s a very hungry siren. Iโ€™ll leave it at that.

You probably wonโ€™t have much of an opinion of Amathea until Book 3. Thatโ€™s intentional. After all, our characters donโ€™t either. Right now, sheโ€™s just a beautiful queen with sharp teeth and a hunger for flesh. Literally. ๐Ÿ˜œ

And of course, I used the same picrew as usual to make these because I like its fantasy features.

Another Quick Update

Well, I did it. I hit submit. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ The final versionโ€”with the authorโ€™s noteโ€”is officially out of my hands.

Now, pardon me while I scream. In terror and excitement. (Mostly terror.)

P.S. – When it goes live, itโ€™ll be here:
